Internet access: from where?
In European and westernized countries, children access the Internet mainly from their homes (38%) and from school (33%), whereas in the 10 New Member Countries of the EU the two percentages are the reverse. The reason for this situation lies in the lack of means that are necessary to purchase the required equipment (PC, connection subscription). This leads youngsters to use amply the resources available at schools.
As the following graph shows, the schools are prevailing in Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, The Czech Republic, Malta, and The United Kingdom.
